First time trip. 6 days in tokyo, 3 in nagoya, 4 in osaka and some day trips. 3 days might be somewhere else not sure yet. Like others here its causing some anxiety haha.

Mostly staying at airbnbs. I was thinking to take the 25″ suitcase and debating between my 22lt or 30lt backpack. I live in a huge city and also hate tourists who don’t take it off so no worries about that from me. I don’t have a backpack big enough to fit everything and don’t want one of those huge 60lt bags.

I was thinking that the backpack would be good for daytrips. I tend to overpack but will try to minimize it. I think a carryon and a back pack might be too little. Others have suggested a dufflebag but even if i leave shopping until the very end won’t that mean a 3rd item i’m not carrying even if the first is a smaller carryon size?

I see that even if a lot of larger coin lockers are full there are many shops around where you can store things. The times I will be spending multiple days in an airbnb i would just be wearing my backpack.

I dont expect to be taking 2 bags all the time only when getting from one city to the next. I also can lift a suitcase. From everything i’ve read a medium size checked bag will fit fine on the bullet trains
