Can my parents in the UK take advantage of the weak yen for their trip?

Please talk to me like I’m an idiot. I’m useless with this stuff.

All I know is the yen is weak and falling apart so currently if you buy something in yen from outside of Japan, it is cheaper, and if you exchange your money to yen, you get more than you would if the yen was stronger. I’m confident that part is correct at least.

My parents are coming in September. Should they now buy yen using British pounds in cash? (They’re in the UK), is there anything else they can do?

Any advice is much appreciated.

Thank you
