Japan 3 week itinerary (Tokyo-Hakone-Kyoto-Osaka-Hiroshima-Kanazawa-Takayama-Tokyo)

Hello,

Im going to Japan this October. Im travelling with my brother. It is our first time here. Im kind of overwhelmed of how much research you need to do. so I would like some advises/tipps and insights about what we planned so far.

We are arriving in Haneda Airport on a Sunday, at 6:00am.

Our Itinerary is like this:

* 5 days in Tokyo (2 day trips to Nikko and Kamakura) Hotel in Shinjuku

1. day arriving in Tokyo Haneda, first day, exploring Shinjuku and the nearby area.
2. day in Asakusa
3. day in Shibuya
4. day, day trip to Nikko
5. day, day trip to Kamakura

(the days are not set in stone, can vary, depending on the weather etc. )

* 1-2 days in Hakone, hopefully see Mt. Fuji and relax in an Onsen. (visit lake Ashi, maybe make a tour on the lake, go to the floating torri, enjoy the area and go to a traditional Onsen)

* 4 days Kyoto (1day trip to Nara) staying near Southern Higashiyama

1. day, some half day itinerary like this? Kinkakuji, Ryoanji [https://www.japan-guide.com/e/e3950\_northern\_kyoto\_half.html](https://www.japan-guide.com/e/e3950_northern_kyoto_half.html)
2. day in Arashiyama, Bamboo groves, monkey park, togetsukyo bridge [https://www.japan-guide.com/e/e3950\_arashiyama\_full.html](https://www.japan-guide.com/e/e3950_arashiyama_full.html)
3. day, trip to Nara, exploring Nara, bow to some deers, golden hall
4. day, trip in eastern Kyoto, example: Higashiyama street, **K**iyomizudera temple, Explore Kodaiji and surroundings
5. [https://www.japan-guide.com/e/e3950\_eastern\_kyoto\_full.html](https://www.japan-guide.com/e/e3950_eastern_kyoto_full.html) (I think we will be doing less temples/shrines etc. as there is suggested, instead we will be focusing on going easier at times)

* 2 days in Osaka, enjoy the nightlife and some great street food etc.
* 2 days Hiroshima and Miyashjima

1. day Peace Memorial Park, Peace Memorial Museum, Atomic bomb Dome, Hiroshima Castle
2. day, travel to Miyashjima with a ferry

* 2 Days Takayama & Shirakawago
* 1 day in Kanazawa
* 2 days in Tokyo, some exploring in Shibuya, some Anime, Akihabara

we would send most of our luggage from Tokyo to Kyoto, in-between day trips we keep a small luggage, so its easier to carry.

We are aware that it might be much, but we want to experience Japan and also see a lot. it’s not a problem for us, if it gets exhausting. This is not a vacation where we spend 10 days at the beach to relax.

We are looking for a mix inbetween cities and nature, as well as tradition and the more futuristic parts. We love the culture and everything. What’s your opinion about the itinerary? Do you have any suggestions what we should reconsider etc?

Thanks for your help.
