First time living in Japan, and am currently living in Meguro just down the Meguro River. It’s a wonderful place to be.
But I’m looking to settle down with my partner and we are eyeing on getting an apartment in the Kashiwa-no-ha Campus area, just up north of Chiba.
Kashiwa-no-ha Campus is about 30 mins away from Akihabara in the outskirts of Tokyo by Tsukuba Express. I feel a little apprehensive living outside of Tokyo. I was born and raised in the city so I am very used to living inside the city where everything is accessible and I don’t need to commute too much from places to places. I’m afraid that I would have difficulty adjusting and not used to 1hr long commute to work on days I have to be in the office.
However, the apartment in kashiwa is so much bigger. The environment and facilities around is great. In general, it seems like you could really get a very good QoL living there, with a relatively lower rent that what I could get here inside Tokyo. I also heard that it’s rising a lot in popularity and called a Smart City.
I’m just wondering if there’s any expat community living there, and want to have a general sense of what is it like living there. Thanks!
