I speak both Japanese and English almost fluently, and for my career, I’m going to have to choose between French or German to take a really hard test with a particular emphasis on written translation. (to and from Japanese)
If my goal is to score as high as possible (because this test is very important for my career) which should I choose? I know both languages are not similar in any way to Japanese, but which would be easier? Which of these have a lower chance of a “grammar mistake” when translating?
I’m leaning a bit more to French because I think my English proficiency will help a lot with the vocab, but if I’m going all out anyways, I don’t think remembering words is a problem for me (I can always just anki deck them if I have a problem). Rather than that, I want to know which of the language is more “translatable” and offer the least chance of error. What do you guys think?
