So I actually booked the travel dates before I knew about Golden Week and now this is where we’re at, landing on 27th and staying in Japan through the entirety of Golden Week (flying out on 7th). I’ve been trying to do my own independant research as much as possible regarding closures, crowds, transport, etc, but I’m always open to all tips and tricks and things I need to watch out for during this period.
I would also love recommendations of events to visit that occur during this period, such as carp banner viewings, spring flower festivals, I think Hina Matsuri also falls during this week? All suggestions welcome in and around the big three cities – Tokyo, Kyoto, Osaka. I also heard of a firework festival in Iwate, are those also due to Golden Week?
