Hi, r/japanlife! I’ll be switching to a remote job with a foreign organization soon and I’m not sure what to do about things like health insurance and residence tax.
I’m not sure I’ll be able to get shakai hoken through them, so should I plan to enroll in national health insurance? And pension? I have a list of deductions from my current payslip, should I just assume I can do all of them at city hall? If you could point me to a list/link, I’d be super grateful.
Ideally, I’d like to take a week or two off between jobs as I’d also be moving – this should be fine if I’m just going to enroll in national health insurance, right? I’m thinking of moving on Day 1, registering at city hall, and starting with on Day 14-15, if it makes a difference.
Sorry this isn’t super precise, I’m trying to anticipate the logistics but it’s difficult when this is your first time!
