I work at a US military base as an American Civilian. Most of the people that work around me are Japanese nationals. The person (female, in her 40s or so) is coming back to work from medical leave and I was thinking about getting something to welcome her back. Another Japanese coworker said they would get balloons. She is not in my branch but we sit in the same cluster of desks; we also don’t have anything beyond a friendly professional relationship.
I have access to the Commissary and Exchange (US grocery store and department store) or obviously I can shop local. Is there anything I could get that would be appreciated? I’m not a huge fan of cards and so I was wondering if y’all had any recommendations?
I could do nothing as well since my colleague mentioned he would get stuff to give her as a group.
