Hi, im 17 and I’ve very very conflicted choosing between these 2 languages. I’m from UK and speak English natively and fluent punjabi, a language similar to hindi.
I love Japanese culture and want to travel there I watch anime alot and like its music. The only thing putting me off is people saying it’s hard to learn.
On the other hand I plan to move to USA, where I will be able to travel south America easier. I also listen to Spanish music.
I’ve always liked japanese more, yet fear I won’t use it much. However, I really do wanna travel there and maybe even live there. I don’t want to even see Tokyo, but the quiet countryside and other beautiful places.
I’ve heard I can learn spanish in a year and a half if I do an hour a day, but way longer for japanese. I studied French at school for 5 years and hated it.
Someone please advise me on this situation as I’m very conflicted
Edit: I’m leaning towards spanish as even if I travel japan it has to be a long way away as I can’t afford it. First I have to complete 1.5 years of school then 5 years university before I can go
