We’re two adults and one infant traveling for three weeks through Japan. The infant will be held with us during transportation and shouldn’t need a ticket (if I understand correctly).
This section of my trip in the first week of April is my most uncertain in terms of transportation for me, because Nara and Koyasan are much smaller than Tokyo or Kyoto so I’m a little worried about ensuring I get the transportation plans correct.
**We’ll be heading to Nara from Kyoto to spend 1 night at a Nara ryokan, then heading to Koyasan for 2 nights in a ryokan, then leaving to head to Osaka for 2 nights.**
Right now I’m thinking the best routing is:
NARA > KOYASAN:
* Depart Nara on the Kintetsu Nara Line from Kintetsu Nara Station to Osaka’s Namba Station
* From Namba Station, board a Nankai Railway train to Gokurakubashi Station (I guess whatever train is fastest)
* Koyasan Cable Car from Gokurakubashi to Koyasan Station, then bus to our ryokan
KOYASAN > OSAKA
* Start in Koyasan and take the cable car down to Gokurakubashi Station.
* Board a Nankai Railway train back to Namba Station in Osaka (whatever train is fastest).
What do you think? Are there ways to have a better travel experience heading to and from these destinations, especially considering we’re traveling with a baby?
