Hey everyone!
I have been a sports management professional for over 11 years (9 across various cities in India and 2 in London) and will be relocating to Japan with my fiance who is Japanese as we feel like it’s the best place for us to start a family.
While I did navigate through many obstacles such as getting admitted into a good university program in the UK and finding a job at a great sports marketing company in London, I feel like breaking into the sports industry in Japan will be my biggest challenge yet.
Hence, can someone help me understand:
– What the sports management ecosystem looks like?
– Are there a fair amount of good jobs in sport?
– Is speaking and writing Japanese mandatory at sports companies (I’ve just started learning and will be relocating in 6-8 months)?
– Pay brackets for manager/senior manager roles?
– Cultural nuances at work?
Thanks in advance!
P.S. – My fiance has already landed a job in Tokyo as a university lecturer that will be getting paid upwards of Â¥8M annually, and we are thinking about moving with the understanding that she can be the primary bread winner till I settle into life there.
Thanks in advance!
