Do I have to pay taxes on my income while on WHV in Japan, if that income is all considered scholarships?

Basically the title. I’ll be doing a remote internship starting next fall (and writing my master’s thesis) and I want to go to Japan on a WHV during that time aswell. The internship is paid by giving the students monthly scholarships so I was wondering if I would be legally allowed to do that.
