Are you watching the F/X – Hulu series? What do you think so far?
Have you read the book? I did and it was a very riveting read.
The series from 1980, have you watched it? What did you think of it? Any thoughts about it and the reboot series?
1) Yes, I am. So far so good, but it seems weird to me that when Mariko speaks in “Portuguese” it comes out in American English instead of Jaoanese accented English.
2) I need to reread the book. I took 2 weeks for thefirst half and literally not getting out of bed (unless necessary 😉) for a weekend to get through the second half. All of Clavell’s books are good and after Shogun I’ld put King Rat as number 2.
3) Yes, I saw it when it originally aired and have recently researched it. I like the fact there are no subtitles putting us more in Blackthorn’s place as not really understanding what is being said around him. However, the reboot is taking more pains to do a more comprehensive telling of the story so we do need to understand all of the dialog in order to follow. The subtitles also help me to recognize 日本ご I do know but may not have registered.
