Moving to Japan, career questions

Hello, this isn’t about moving to Japan but about how I’ll do when I’m there. My fiancée is Japanese and we’ve been discussing kids and she and her family has convinced me raising them in Japan will be the best. The problem is, I’m not sure how I’d handle it career wise.

We’ll be moving in 2 years to give me time to learn the language but qualification wise, I’m not qualified. I’m from the UK and I failed school with less than 5 GCSEs and went into working on ships as a deckhand. Over in the UK, I am able to provide for my fiancée and have saved money which would help buy a house/land.

I took a look at all the visas from the wiki here to see what jobs are on offer as well as at Gajinpot and I’m still a little confused on what I can do. It appears like part time and being a Teacher are the majority and I’m not qualified to teach and I want to work full time.

My current idea is to hopefully get some career suggestions and take up an apprenticeship in the UK to have a career in Japan? Does Japan have apprenticeships I could take? But it appears for trade (visas) it’s a degree and or 10 years experience, although I don’t need the visa, does that translate to foreigners in general? Will I be turned away by employers if I have 2 years apprenticeship experience if they don’t have to sponsor me?

What would you do in this situation? 2 years to save even more and gain skills/qualifications to have a career in Japan?
