Fall colors in Aomori versus central / southern Honshu

I’m planning my third trip to Japan, and first solo trip. The main goals of the trip are Koyo in Honshu, and to visit some areas in Shikoku. So far I’ve been looking at a November 16th – 30th timeline.

I’ve heard that one of the hot spots for fall colors is Aomori / Towada, but everywhere I’ve read says it peaks around the end of October over there. I’m wondering if autumn in Aomori is really worth shifting my dates, or are the fall colors in my other destinations worth letting it go?

For reference, the other Koyo cities I plan on visting for the trip are:

– Tokyo
– Jingu Gaien Ginkgo Avenue
– Yoro Keikoku Station
– Mt Mitsutouge
– Kyoto
– Tofukuji
– Tenryuji
– Yoshiminedera
– Wakayama
– Koyasan

(Also these places for reference, not specifically for Koyo)

– Naoshima
– Ehime
– Hiroshima

(I know it’s a lot of moving for ~13 days. Still working out the kinks.)

Another thing to note is, I’ve been to Tokyo and Kyoto for both of my last 2 trips. Maybe it’s time to branch out from those cities? Or is Koyo in those cities worth the revisit?
