Hey everyone! I’m looking to boost my Japanese skills through watching some Japanese series. Do you have any favorites you’d recommend? Drop your suggestions below.
I love Furuhata Ninzaburo and basically just recommending it cause I think it’s great but if I guess you could hear some somewhat polite speech forms here. Almost every episode has a story that is resolved within that episode so if you see one episode and it’s not your thing, feel free to skip
初恋 – First Love. Sounds corny, and is in parts, but it’s an intricately told story with two fantastic lead actors. Really well done.
The Makanai – Gorgeous costumes and settings.
And for something completely different…
Alice In Borderland – Squid Game, but better.
All on Netflix.
I’m wondering if I should be watching with English subtitles, Japanese subtitles, no subtitles, or forget about it until I build my reading and vocabulary bases. Like right now I only know a few phrases and can stumble my way through hiragana and katakana. Would it even be worth it for me right now?
結婚できない男 (Kekkon dekinai Otoko). Besides being an underrated gem, they use everyday life japanese (sitcom) and can be useful for learning!
bayside shakedown is quite good.
Right now there is a show called Shogun that has mostly Japanese which is really cool if you’re into samurai / historical war stuff
