Wire transfer to Japan Post account

Hi everyone,

I need to transfer a large sum of money to my Japan Post office account. It seems like Wise is a good choice and will give a very good rate.

Has anyone used this before for making a large purchase (in this case, a condo)? Anything I need to be aware of? The final amount will be over 5,300 man yen but I can do it in multiple transfers.

Edit: Additional info: I can make the transfer myself from abroad (in the US), from US$ to yen. I’m wondering if Wise will be better than transferring from my US bank (Wells Fargo) into a Japan Post via their intermediary bank (Deutsche Bank NY). My wife is a co-owner of the US bank account and it would go into her Japan Post account, and she is a Japanese citizen. Wise quoted me a good rate online (147¥ to the dollar after a $1,000 fee on a $300,000 transfer) but that is just their website algorithm without my even having an account there, so I don’t know how accurate it is.
