Friend and I are hoping to visit Mihama/Kumano after a short inner-Wakayama day trip from Osaka for the Fireworks show on August 17th. We’d be driving down on 8/16 and staying the night probably in the area. I’ll be renting a car for this specific portion of the trip since we’re going to places inaccessible by transit (I have my IDP). Also important: we both have domestic flights at ITM the day after (8/18) at around 2 pm.
I can’t find any information about how to prepare, what to do, traffic expectations, etc. Any advice for making this work?
Alternatively, any other summer festivals to hit up in Kansai mid-August?
