Breaking Contract and Final Salary – Question

Hi, for numerous reasons, I’m going to submit my notice of resignation to my BoE before my contract ends in July. I’m still deciding the exact resignation date, but it will be at the end of the school year after the school closing day in March. I can give my school plenty of notice between now and then for them to prepare for roughly 4 months of classes in my absence before they receive a new JET in the summer. I have numerous reasons for breaking contract, but its largely due to burnout.

I’ve heard the final salary on JET will likely be tiny due to the lump tax deduction, so I’m wondering if I would be able to work the full month in March and then use my nenkyu in April until the 15th (payday), so that the tax would at least be on a full month’s salary. Ideally I’d prefer to use nenkyu as ‘leaving’ at the end of the school year in March after the graduation cermemony seems like the right time to go, as opposed to saying the goodbyes in March and then awkwardly sticking around for about a week while the office is still ‘closed’ at the beginng of April and then for a few days when the students return.

**If anyone knows whether that’s the way the salary would work if I set my contract termination day to be mid April, and whether I could do so using nenkyu until the mid April, I’d appreciate the clarification and input.**
