I own the same pair of glasses for 40 years now. Or copies of.
I bought those beautifully designed glasses in the 1990s.
When the frame wore out I wasn’t able to get that model again.
But I found a optician who knew a technician in the field where he could get a copy made.
Not sure if purely handcrafted ore somehow CAD assisted.
When after 15 more years that version “eroded” I was not able to get another copy made (or find a vintage original).
The material was acetate (i think, a kind of plastic similar to horn).
Do you know if opticians / glasses stores in Tokyo are able to replicate old frames?
I am coming to Tokyo in July and this – after having not found a solution in my place, yet – would be so awesome.
