Teaching English as a graduate student?

Hi there,

I’ll be moving to Japan this fall as a graduate student in Tokyo pursuing a masters in science at Waseda. My understanding is that I would be eligible to work up to 28 hours under a student visa. I was wondering if teaching English at a school or as a tutor is a realistic option? I’m a native English speaker from the US with a bachelors degree, I have work experience but in biotech, not as a teacher.

Is this something I could pursue with these qualifications? Are y here are any certifications or courses I should consider prior to moving to Japan in order to increase my chances at getting a more desirable job? Any advice or insight is appreciated, thank you!
