MEXT Scholarship, dependent visa and income

Hello everyone, I was awarded a MEXT scholarship for a master’s degree (with a 1 to 2-year research status) in Japan. I’ll be leaving on Monday and I’ve researched the CoE and dependent visa requirements so my wife can join me in Japan later.

However, now that I’m reading into previous stories and experiences from other people, I’m starting to feel extremely anxious that my scholarship stipend (about 1.8M tax-free per year) will not be deemed enough and my wife will not receive her CoE. I will ask for the 28-hour part-time work permission at the airport, so would it help our chances if I got a part-time job as soon as possible once in Japan so I can start applying for her CoE? Should I consider the part-time a must for us?

I also have around 2M in aggregate between my PayPal account and my savings account in my home country, so I would be able to use that as a safety blanket. Would that also help our CoE chances? Should I also let the immigration bureau know that we would apply for the special 28-hour part-time permit for my wife as well once she’s here?

I was confident that as a MEXT scholar we had solid chances for a CoE but now that I’m reading all of this about income statements and all of that, I’m getting very anxious. I really hope my wife will be able to join me in Japan.

Thank you all in advance.
