I’m a 17 year old half (Japanese American) living in the US. However, my family visits Tokyo during basically every school break we can. I speak Japanese pretty much fluently, but my reading and writing are lacking.
I’m not a very social person, specifically with people I don’t know, but I was wondering what kind of things I could do to meet other people around my age? Right now I meet with a friend i’ve known since kindergarten (also some photography friends, but I’m looking for casual, “hang out” kind of friends) every time I come back, which is fun, but I kind of want to branch out.
I also need to get more accustomed to the “way people my age speak Japanese,” as I really have no clue about the slang, etc. since I’m not used to them. I hope to live here in the future and I just feel kind of out of place despite technically being Japanese.
