Seeking Advice for Booking Ski Accommodation for Group Trip to Hakuba Goryu or Nozawa Onsen for 4 January – 10 January 2025

Hi fellow travelers,

I’m currently in the midst of planning a group trip for myself and fiveof my friends to Japan for the upcoming 2024/25 ski season. We’re really excited about hitting the slopes, but we’re encountering some challenges when it comes to finding suitable accommodation in the Hakuba Goryun and Nozawa Onsen areas. Reason we are debating either of these locations is because there are plenty of options for english speaking ski schools.

Our initial research has shown limited options available for booking accommodation, and we’re hoping to tap into the collective wisdom of this community for some advice and recommendations.

Here are some specific questions we have:

**Accommodation Options:** What are some reliable websites or platforms for booking ski accommodation in Hakuba and Nozawa Onsen? I have checked a few on [booking.com](https://booking.com) and airbnb, but the choices seem quite limited.

**Ideal Accommodation Type:** We’re looking for a place that can comfortably accommodate all six of us. We don’t mind traditional ryokans or Western style accommodation. The most important thing would be that it would be easily accessible to the ski lifts as my friends would be trying skiing for the first time?

**Booking Timing:** Is there a particular time frame we should aim for when booking accommodation for the ski season? We want to ensure we secure a good place without waiting until the last minute. I am happy to pull the trigger as early as May 2024 to sort something out.

**Local Insights:** For those who have been to Hakuba Goryu or Nozawa Onsen during the ski season, do you have any insider tips or recommendations for accommodations that might not be as well-known but are still fantastic?

**Other Considerations:** Are there any other factors we should consider when booking ski accommodation in these areas, such as proximity to ski resorts, amenities, transportation options, etc.?

Any insights, personal experiences, or recommendations would be greatly appreciated! We’re really looking forward to our trip and want to make sure we have the best possible experience on and off the slopes.

I am happy for people to directly message me on reddit chat if it’s easier! Thanks in advance for your help!
