Hello r/JapanTravel! The kindness and enthusiasm on this subreddit page inspired me to create a reddit account to seek your insight.
I will soon be traveling to Japan and am planning a day trip to Hakone from Japan. I am trying to get a sense of what is achievable in the one-day journey and the best order to complete the desired activities.
The two activities we certainly want to do are visiting the Hakone Open-Air Museum and the boat ride on Lake Ashi. Time permitting, we are also considering the ropeway to Owakudani.
My hotel is near Tokyo Station so we will take the JR East train to Odawara. But from there, I am having trouble determining the best approach to journey through the area.
