The company is restricting my temporary departure from the country.

Hello, I’m not used to write my own posts, so sorry for everything in advance.😅😅

I recently applied for vacation from my company and was denied. The company has a rule that requires you to give two months notice of vacation, which I did. In the end, I was refused because I asked for 25 days (including weekends and travel time, which is 16+ hours one-way), and according to the new company rule, which comes into force in May, no one has the right to travel abroad for more than two weeks.

I am returning to my country not for a walk, but to change my passport. Since I could not change it through the embassy, I need to personally return back and change it. I received the following response from the company: “Our current regulations don’t allow any long-term “absences”. Please try do it within two weeks.” As if it’s up to me…

Is it even legal? Can a company prohibit its employee from traveling somewhere and limit the timing of departure?
In my opinion, this is illegal and such prohibitions should go against the law, since they limit my freedom.
