First of all thank you to everyone who will comment with their advise here.
My spouse is being transferred to Tokyo, Japan for a 2 year project. The organization is arranging her visa and have the provision to add me as a dependent on it. We plan to move to Japan in July this year.
I work in IT and I am checking with my employer if they can arrange a work visa for me as well so that I am not limited to 28 hours / week job restriction in Japan and can continue with my job after the relocation. While my employer is supportive and while we do have an office in Tokyo, things are moving slower than anticipated owing to internal approvals, etc. Just to add – I have been employed with my employer for over 10 years now.
I am trying to understand – Can I apply for a Dependent while my company tries to organize a work visa for me and once my employer is ready to provide a work visa , can I change my dependent visa to an IntraCompany International Transfer visa?
If anyone has dealt with this kind of situation, please share your experiences.
