Options for working in Japan after JET rejection?

So I found out I was rejected from JET today which is a big bummer. I really would like to work in Japan, but my Japanese is only around N3. Im in a pretty serious relationship with a guy living in Japan and I really want to make it work, which is partially why I initially applied for JET, and why I’m interested in working in Japan. I know I can apply again next year but another year is a long time to wait (especially in regards to my relationship). Im in college in the US and I’ll be graduating in June with a degree in international studies. I don’t have IT experience so I don’t think that’s really an option for me, at least not any time soon. Ive also thought about language school but it’s obviously quite expensive and I would need to fund it somehow with a job. I wouldn’t mind working at an eikaiwa but I’ve heard some awful things about the work environment, and I’m worried about career prospects afterwards (is it really that bad?). I’m hoping some of you here might have suggestions for different options I might have.

Edit:
Considering language school as a possible option, I’m wondering if reaching N1 will open more doors? Or if getting hired for office work etc. is still quite difficult without being a recent graduate, even with a high level of japanese?
