I made a rookie mistake: check BOTH credit reporting agencies before applying for a new card.

I made a comment a little while back about how Aeon denied me twice despite having a reputation for accepting just about anyone. Then I read about someone talking about JICC and realized what happened. Pulling my JICC report for the first time confirmed it.

CIC removes inquiry records sooner than JICC. My denial from October was labeled 保有期限:2024年3月末 on my CIC report, so I thought I was good to go on April 1. I pulled my CIC report and it *was* gone. But they denied me anyway. After reading the comment and looking up JICC then pulling my report from there, *they* still had my denial from October on their record.

Lesson learned.

There are three credit reporting agencies in Japan, no?

  2. >CIC removes inquiry records sooner than JICC

In that case, wouldn’t it be fine to just check JICC and not use CIC?
