Hey everyone, will be spending 2 nights in Hakone as part of my trip in a couple weeks and wanted to get some opinions on my current thinking for how I want to complete the loop-ish.
# context/thinking:
* Coming in from Tokyo, on the way to Osaka
* I’ll be staying at Ten-Yu the first night, and then Kyuan the second night
* Will be there on a weekend; so leaning towards a clockwise-ish direction to reduce potential waiting times
* Sort of using Gora as a hub since there’s a free shuttle to/from Ten-Yu, minimizing backtracking.
* Timings are loose as I haven’t really confirmed train schedules, but trying not to “rush” and enjoy the amenities at my ryokan’s as much as I can as well.
* Open to lightening up day 1 morning to push to day 3 afternoon/evening.
* Plan is no luggage, just an overnight backpack.
* no JR-Pass
# day 1:
* Leave hotel @ Asakusa area and journey to Hakone-Yumoto
* Leaning towards taking Romancecar from Shinjuku
* But not opposed to taking Shinkansen -> Odawara -> Hakone-Yumoto
* ***Would love some input here!***
* Arrive Hakone-Yumoto for around 10AM, buy Hakone FreePass
* Bus to Hakone-Machi, dilly dally around here for a bit
* Take the boat-cruise to Togendai
* ***upgrading the fare for viewing deck?***
* Do ropeway / cable-car eastwardly
* Stopping as needed? Owakudani for the eggs
* Lunch somewhere around Gora station
* Knock off one of the museums depending on timing
* Take shuttle from Gora station to Ten-Yu around 3PM
* Enjoy Ten-Yu
# day 2:
* breakfast at Ten-Yu, maybe drop-off backpack at Kyuan
* shuttle back to Gora
* Hit up stuff towards Sengoku
* ***glass museum? grass fields? choanji temple? what are the must hits hre?***
* eventually backtrack to Gora
* Shuttle from Gora back to TenYu around 3ish again
* Walk from Tenyu to Kyuan (10min)
* Enjoy Kyuan

# day 3:
* breakfast at Kyuan, checkout
* back to Gora
* Make stops going southbound from Gora -> Moto Hakone
* Open Air Museum
* Museum of Art
* Hakone Shrine ***(maybe trying to time sunset if we move some day 1 stuff here?)***
* bus back to Hakone Yumoto
* Odawara -> Osaka
