Lost my bank card in my first night in Ikebukuro, what should I do?

I doubt I’ll ever see it again but wanted to get a gauge on what people in Japan do when they find a card. Would it have been likely to have been handed into police? I’ve frozen the card but are people likely to try and use it if it has been found?
I’d literally just gotten off my plane and had been walking around with a friend for a couple hours before I noticed it was gone. So gutted because I’m usually so paranoid about these things and have a two week trip ahead of me.
Any recommendations on replacements?
Thanks in advance 😊

  1. They’ll probably hand it in if they do find it. The hindsight advice would have been to go to the nearest police box (koban) and report that you had lost it, though if it was hours before you discovered you lost it, probably not as useful.

If you need the card, call your bank, report it lost, and see if they can expedite you a replacement to a hotel that you’ll be in.

  2. I say contact your bank to issue you a new one. Than add it to Google or apple wallet so you can use it. You can also have the bank send it to your hotel. Chase Sapphire will do that for the premium cards.
