Travel to South Korea as a USA/Japan dual citizen

USA/Japan dual citizen here, and I’m looking to travel to South Korea. I want to be sure that I am able to get into South Korea with my US passport (and the K-ETA) and then return to Japan with my Japanese citizenship. Has anyone done this recently? What are the logistics in using which passport for checking in, immigration, etc.?

  1. Not sure which passport you would use when going into South Korea and leaving there (I guess whichever one is most convenient), but for sure, leaving Japan and entering Japan you have to use your Japanese passport. Anytime you enter or leave the US, you must use your US passport as well

  2. I thought you had to renounce your native citizenship to become a permanent Japanese citizen?
