So as far I know, you can have an alias registered at your local city office but your actual official name is as it’s written in your passport, Roman letters in my case. That being sad, I don’t have a registered alias and some services like JP Post have my name written in katakana. The thing is, my name has a “v” sound that is usually spelled with “ヴ” and that’s how I’ve been writing it when it’s request a furigana but recently I’ve receveid my 健康保険証 and I noticed that my name is spelled with a “b” sound instead of a “v” so it’s spelled diferent than usually. Should I be worried about this? With all the horror stories about the confusion that foreigners have with their romanized and katakanized names make me kinda uneasy about this.
