I need to transfer money to someone in Japan and they provided me with their Rakuten bank details (branch name, branch number, account type, account number, account holder) but I’m currently not in Japan and I’m not Japanese so I don’t have a passbook, Japanese phone number, and Japan address.
– Is there a way for me as a foreigner to transfer money via my local bank (international money transfer/ remittance) to Rakuten bank? My online banking is only showing Japan post bank as an option.
– When I get to Japan (in 2 weeks) do convenience stores have machines that will let me deposit money and if yes is Rakuten bank part of those options and will I need a passbook or anything else (aside from my money and bank details of the account I’m depositing to)?
– They have yet to reply if they have other banks or payment options.
I’ve tried looking into other subreddits and google hasn’t been of much help. Any help would be really appreciated!
