I’ve read throughout this subreddit that golden week is a huge pain and traveling should be avoided. My understanding however is that most of the rush is due to vacationers going from Tokyo -> Kyoto, Osaka, etc towards the beginning of the holiday, and then in reverse towards the end.
If that’s correct, then is it reasonable to say my party of 2 shouldn’t have trouble getting Tokyo -> Osaka Shinkansen tickets on 5/4?(Saturday, second weekend of golden week)
We’ve tried reserving on Smart-ex but our cards are getting declined, and Klook is upcharging like crazy so we’re hoping that we can just reserve tickets in person either on 5/3(Fri) or 5/4(Sat). If we need to shell out for advanced tickets via Klook so be it, but hoping to save a little money if possible.
