Hello, I am American and coming at the end of the month, doing a cruise around Japan. I have heard that Golden Week is really busy for travel, so I planned on buying my shinkansen/train tickets (between Kobe, Osaka, Kyoto, and Nara) for those few holidays in advance. However, I’ve tried three different credit cards on the SmartEX app, and none could be authenticated. Will I be out of luck if I try to wait and buy tickets day of travel? I can’t afford to be stranded inland.
