Hello all, I’m going to Japan with three of my friends (we are all 18) this June (the rain won’t be great but unfortunately it’s the only time that worked). We’ve put together a somewhat complete itinerary and was wondering what anyone’s thoughts were. Particularly what we’ve allocated for each day–we grouped together the activities by location but if anyone has any tips that would make the trip more efficient that would be much appreciated.
Thanks!
For some background info, most of us have already been to Japan and have seen most of the tourist “must-sees”, so we left out a couple. Also, we’re planning on buying lots of clothes as we’re all into fashion/streetwear.
**Day 1 (Tokyo)**
* Arrive at NRT airport, take skyliner to hotel in Akihabara
* Get settled, find dinner somewhere
**Day 2 (Tokyo, Shinjuku/Shimokitazawa)**
* Visit vintage camera shops around Shinjuku
* Shinjuku Batting Center
* Go to shimokitazawa, vintage clothing shopping for a while
* Find dinner back in Shinjuku at Omoide Yokocho
This day feels a bit empty, any recommendations for the area?
**Day 3 (Tokyo, Asakusa/Akihabara)**
* Walk around Senso-ji and Nakamise-dori
* Tsukiji Market (We’ve heard that it’s become quite overpriced and not as worth visiting, any thoughts?)
* Don Quijote Akihabara
* Anime stores around Akihabara
* Find dinner, then do a challenge of getting to the hotel from the restaurant as fast as possible without using a phone (last place has to do a punishment that will be decided later)
**Day 4 (Shibuya/Harajuku)**
* On the way to Shibuya from Akihabara, stop by to see the stairs from the movie “Your Name”
* Shopping in Shibuya
* Miyashita Park
* Takeshita Street
* Explore Harajuku
* Shibuya Sky at sunset
**Day 5 (Toyko – Kyoto)**
* Take the shinkansen to Kyoto to arrive in Kyoto in the afternoon
* Get settled at the Kyoto hotel, explore Gion area
* Find dinner, relax
This day also feels a bit empty, but according to the research I’ve done most of the attractions in Kyoto are best in the early morning, are there any afternoon/evening activities worth doing?
**Day 6 (Kyoto)**
* Kiyomizu-dera (early morning)
* Sannenzaka & Ninenzaka
* Explore Arashiyama
**Day 7 (Osaka Day Trip)**
* Arrive in Osaka in the morning
* Osaka Aquarium Kaiyukan
* Umeda shopping district
* Round1 Stadium
* Dotonbori
**Day 8 (Kyoto-Tokyo)**
* Check out of hotel early and ship luggage back to Tokyo
* Fushimi Inari Taisha (early morning)
* Any other shrines we decide on visiting
* Shinkansen back to Tokyo
**Day 9 (Tokyo)**
* Meeting some Japanese international students we became friends with in high school back in Canada, they have some “plan” for us for this day
* Last minute shopping
* Omakase/kaiseki dinner (any recommendations would be appreciated)
**Day 10 (Tokyo)**
* Leave hotel at 9:00 am
* Flight back to Canada
