I occasionally read novels in my spare time, though I still need to look up some words. I can read the most complicated words like 執行猶予 at a glance but I can’t even write the most commonly used words like 確認 without looking up.
I once had a job information session in Japanese. While I mostly understand what they were saying, when they made me answer some questionnaire using pen and paper I froze up and realized how minimal my kanji knowledge is. So I write my answers almost all in hiragana
Does anyone have this problem? Do you consider “knowing” a character includes knowing how to write it?
