Seeking Advice for a Tranquil and Immersive Trip to Japan: Exploring Beyond Traditional Landmarks

Hello, I’m seeking advice for my upcoming trip to Japan. It’s not going to be the typical two-week visit where I rush to see all the traditional landmarks and then leave. Instead, I’m planning to stay for a month, maybe two, or at most three, in one or a few specific cities to truly immerse myself in the Japanese atmosphere. While I do want to visit landmarks, I’d prefer to explore those near the city where I’ll be staying, perhaps venturing out for a maximum of two weekend excursions. Last year, I visited Tokyo, and although I enjoyed it, I found it to be quite fast-paced. I’d prefer to explore a more traditional and tranquil city this time. Could you recommend any, and explain why? I’d appreciate any recommendations. As for my budget, I have around 1K reserved for accommodation per month, about €50 a day for food with the option to spend more if needed, and approximately €1000-1500 a month for transportation, shopping, data plan, and sightseeing expenses. Thank you in advance for any suggestions!
