Changing position from Cook to Front Desk Agent. Don’t know what to do! Seeking help from FD Agents!

Hello everyone,

I’m currently working at a hotel as washoku cook clerk/live kitchen cook in Hakone. I love what I’m doing in the kitchen but management decided to transfer me to front desk. I have N3 but i’m really bad at reading and writing kanjis. Sometimes, I don’t even remember the most basic kanjis. Speaking and listening -to some extent- is not a problem in kitchen since it’s not a hard Japanese but i believe front desk is something else. I’m also really bad at keigo…

My manager told me that 5 people from front desk who can speak English will quit before golden week and he told me that i am the only person left who can speak English, so management decided to use me in front desk. Even though i told him that English is my third language and Japanese being the forth one so I don’t want to work in front desk since i don’t have confidence in my abilities, he used my toeic score which is 940 as an excuse.

I don’t know what to do and I feel so nervous since it will be my first time in front desk. He “politely” asked me to study the necessary kotobas and kanjis and told me to ganbatte. He also gave me the name of the app so I can study in advance, but it seems there are no guides online. It’s called TAP.

So, I’m seeking help from front desk officers,

Do you have any guides? Advices, tips? Necessary words, kanjis? Phrases etc. I really appreciate it if you guys could help this brother out. Thank you so much.
