Cherry Blossoms in Tokyo

We will be in Tokyo from the 11th onwards for about a week, and I was after recommendations for good places to visit to see the cherry blossoms. I understand the season is unusually late this year, so we were hoping to catch them just at the tail-end of full bloom. I understand there are two varieties, “somei yoshino,” (the popular type) and “yaezakura” (late-blooming). Where would be a good spot to catch a good number of trees in full bloom, of either or both varieties?

I was thinking of Ueno Park, but please share your recommendations for other sites to visit. I heard that Ueno is also super busy at the moment! Is it better to go early in the morning or in the evening?
