I studied abroad in Japan for 5 months beginning in August and would wear flip flops before the weather turned but it was primarily to get to and from school or to go shopping. By the time I was traveling to shrines the weather had turned and I was wearing closed toed shoes.
I’m going to be in Japan early this week for two weeks and the weather will be ping pong between mid 60s to mid 70s. We will be in Tokyo/Yokohama (Kamakura), Kansai and Hiroshima. I have one pair of walking shoes I like but I really thrive in some teva hiking sandals. I’m just wondering if I’m going to run into some awkward situations wearing them when going to shrines/temples/castles/museums. I can bring a pair of socks on me in case but I don’t want to appear gross. However, with the weather the only other comfortable shoes I have are some lace up boots which I’m worried may be too hot for the weather! Also being conscious of packing space.
So I’m basically asking if hiking sandals are okay to wear and any spring weather tips!
