Just for some background context, I’m a 20 y/o in Canada and im starting university in the upcoming Fall of 2024. I’m doing a BA in Geography with a major in TESL, because I want to be a high school teacher and I’ve chosen those as my required two teachable subjects.
I’ve always been obsessed with geography since I was a toddler and travelling is something I really want to pursue in my 20’s as I didn’t really have the opportunity to travel much in my childhood. I found the JET Peogramme as I was searching for teaching job opportunities abroad that I could aim for and have kinda become super obsessed 😅
Anyway, my formal JET Programme application is still a full 4 years away, so I have a metric sh*t ton of time to prepare and I want to use that to my advantage because it’s become a very serious goal of mine. I just want to ask anyone for what kind of advice they can give me if you were in my position.
Could be anything from types of uni electives to take, summer jobs that’ll look impressive on the resume, tips for writing the SOP, even life in Japan tips on the notion I’d be accepted, anything is appreciated 🙂
