My wife, son and I are about to fly back to Japan from Guam tomorrow.
We went to a gun shooting range in Guam called Western Frontier. It’s owned by a Japanese guy and the staff are Japanese.
The staff gave us empty shell casings as souvenirs to take back to Japan. He claims it’s perfectly fine in a checked bag. I’ve read that the TSA is fine with it. However, can you really bring empty shell casings into Japan?
My wife thinks it’s fine since the Japanese staff of the gun shooting range would know this. I’m not sure nor so trusting. I know Japan is super strict about anything gun related but I can’t find any specific info about bringing empty shell casings into Japan as checked luggage. Does anyone know?
UPDATE: We got through Japan Customs at KIX without any issues carrying empty shell casings in our checked bag. We breezed right on through without any questions or delays.
