My partner and I are going to Japan for our honeymoon and had been looking forward to balling out on a kaiseki dinner in Kyoto. The restaurant we most want to go to is in the Gion District. My partner found a map of which streets are closed, and it looks like the restaurant is in fact on one of the closed streets. Of course, we want to be respectful of street closures and boundaries for tourists. But it also doesn’t fully make sense that they would close off the entrance to a restaurant. We’re thinking maybe the street is closed but somehow the restaurant entrance is still accessible? Or the street is closed except for access to local businesses? Or maybe the restaurant truly only available for locals. The name of the resturnat is Gion Yamagishi.
Would appreciate any insight, thank you!
