I’m travelling with a group in late May to Japan for 2 weeks and am aware that I can occasionally get a bit enthusiastic about fitting things in and want to do a check of my early plans to see if they are realistic !
Also very keen on potential suggestions on things to remove, or things to add should we have extra time ! Particularly recommendations for day trips would be loved!
First time in Japan. Travel style is to have a rough plan and organise some key things, but have time to explore and figure things out while there e.g. meals.

11/5: Arrive 0840 in Osaka. Check in to accomodation. Amerikamura surrounds shopping in the day. Minami (Dotonburi) evening
12/5: Shinsekai and surrounds. Osaka Castle and surrounding garden. Kita (Umeda) the evening
13/5: Universal Studios. Have blocked the whole day out for this. Tickets/fast pass purchased. I suspect we will just find some where close to accommodation in the evening to eat/wander
14/5: Travel to Kyoto. Arrive early afternoon. Explore Nakagyo ward. Nishiki market.
15/5: Arayashima Bamboo forest and surrounds (early). Then head off to do Hozugawa river cruise. If time in the evening, check out Nijo castle. Would be interested in Golden Pavillion but aware this is all very spread out so might not make sense.
16/5: Fushimi Inari Shrine (early). Show at Minamiza Kabuki Theatre (booked, 2pm). Explore Higashiyama/Gion around this. Dinner in Pontocho
17/5: Nara Day trip.
18/5: Travel to Tokyo. Check in 4pm. Explore Shinjuku. Kabuchiko. Night out.
19/5: Shinjuku National Garden. Explore Shinjuku and trip to Harajuku. Samurai show in the evening.
20/5: Team Lab Planets AM (booked). Pass by Tokyo tower. Shibuya for majority of afternoon/evening. Shibuya sky evening (booked)
21/5: Day trip to Hakone !
22/5: Day trip to Kawaguchiko/Fuji
23/5: Akhibata shopping day. Potentially Tokyo imperial palace and gardens
24/5: Day trip to Izu peninsula
25/5: Day exploring Toshima. Main motivation was the mega pokemon centre so will need to look into other things to do here.
26/5: Studio Ghibli museum (entry time 12pm booked). Explore surrounds after
27/5: Leave Tokyo
