So I will buy tickets on the Smart Ex website. I believe this will give me a QR code I can scan at the gates? Is that all I need?
Also that site is very very picky about cards. Tried my Revolt Visa, Starling Mastercard, Halifax Mastercard and finally my Revolut Virtual Mastercard which was the only one that worked!!!

And yes it’s known to be picky about the kind of credit card used.
I just used the machine in the station, it takes 2 minutes and you get your tickets.Â
Unless you’re traveling it’s just easier to go to the Green Window and have the helpful people at the station help give you a few options that make sense for you.
