Hi! I’ll be moving to Japan next month, and I have read about duties-exempt unaccompanied baggage.
I plan to send two boxes of personal effects through DHL a day before I depart my country. I understand that I must mark the boxes as “Unaccompanied Baggage” and declare that I have unaccompanied baggage in the physical Customs declaration forms upon my arrival in Japan. I also understand that the Customs officer will give me one stamped copy of the form, which I will use when my parcels arrive in Japan after several days.
What is unclear to me is the part when my parcels arrive in Japan. Will the DHL or Customs notify me about the required stamped Customs declaration form? How do I send the form to them?
I appreciate any help you can provide.
