Questions about an upcoming choice

Might be joining the us military reserve unit. I hold a japanese visa and have been working in Japan for 11+ years. Reserves will require/request me to work on some of the days I work with my full time company.
Because of my position and situation within my company, it will be challenging to replace me for those days without cancelling the classes and potentially losing the company 600k ¥ for the month. Which I am sure the company won’t like.
My direct manager has told me to quit when I brought my decision and possibility to join reserves to her. She said I need to find my replacement and leave the company. I haven’t brought it up with the other managers. Although, I am in a higher positions in the company ( kind of a ghost that just makes them a lot of money to keep one store from closing…not the best buisness planning for a company….)
So, anyone have advice on what I can do or if they are legally obligated to let me do my reserve obligations? Japanese company. Seisain position.
