I will be leaving Japan on the 21st of April as I have so-far completed my university studies (credits) here and my student visa expires on the 21st of July. However I will be returning around September for my graduation ceremony. I have a few questions and things to complete before leaving.
I still need to pay for my last semester’s tuition fee which is automatically taken out of my jp post bank account. Will my account be frozen and payment will not complete due to the fact that I am no longer a resident in Japan after the 21st of July? My best wish is to still have the account and save a little money in it for possible future visits, but I recently did their survey and gave them my resident card informations and I doubt they’ll let tourists own bank accounts.
I know I’ll have to go to city hall and tell them I am leaving, which means my address will be gone then resident card etc. So there really isn’t a chance for my bank account to work after the 21st of July right?
If I can’t keep my bank account, what is the recommended procedure for it? Go to JPPost and close it or just take all the money out and let it close itself?
